Here our managing director Jill Wood takes a look at the company’s approach to charitable activities and shows what a charitable bunch we are at Signum Facilities Management.
From being Mrs Claus at the Round Table Christmas Grotto to donating food to the towns food banks we try and get involved in a number of charity events throughout the year.
Our activities see us donating time as well as cash and goods and for some charities we know they need people to be helping out just as much as they need the money.
Ian, my husband and director at Signum, gives up his time as a coach to the local under 10s football club and he helps them with their fundraising for equipment and supplies to improve the ground, clubhouse and kit provision. He also gets involved in coordinating events such as the mums v sons (this was a killer this year!).
I’ve been involved in the Ladies Circle and was the chair in 2016/17, this role has seen us donating Christmas gifts for young mums via the Greengables Charity and sorting transport for the annual day trip.
Somehow I found myself doing a Skydive for DRASACS, this was a terrifying experience but the fact that I was raising money for such a worthy cause meant that there was no way I wasn’t going to jump!
There was the now infamous stint as Mrs Claus at the Round Table Christmas Grotto and Ian who is the current Round Table Chair has facilitated food bank donations from the group and has also been Santa for the Christmas Grotto. I know, we sound like a match made in heaven, Mr and Mrs Claus!
We’ve been involved with a boxing event for Firefly, taken part in a Coast to Coast bike ride for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and there are so many more things on our list to do.
We know that we can’t take part in everything that we’d like to but we do have a number of charities that we are keen to support.
Working hard can sometimes take over everything that you do, we make a point of taking the time to remember that we are in a position to help others and we make sure it is a part of our planning.
