Next up for our staff spotlight Q&A, is our lovely administrator and facilities coordinator, Jodie Twigg who has worked at Signum Facilities Management for five years. Here she tells us all about her favourite things about her role and what makes Signum such a great company to work for!

Q1. What was your first job?

My first job was working as a nursery assistant, where I carried out my training to become a nursery nurse.

Jodie twigg signum staffQ2. Tell us about your role at Signum FM and what it involves

My role at Signum involves arranging both planned and reactive works. I also organise all engineers’ diaries, order the materials needed, liaise with contractors about specialist works and meet with suppliers to ensure we obtain the best rates.

With regard to our clients, I prepare and send quotes to them and keep in touch with clients following completion of works. I also update our client portal with certificates/reports from completed jobs so it’s a pretty varied, and busy, role!

Q3. What’s your favourite thing about working for Signum?

Helping our customers!

When the office phone rings asking for an engineer to visit site, I can efficiently arrange everything around their needs and restrictions or if they simply call for a piece of advice, I can help them by having a wide range of knowledge about  statuary standards that their organisation should adhere to. Our customers appreciate this approach immensely.

Q4. What do you enjoy most about working in facilities management?

No two days are ever the same and every new day brings a new challenge.

I enjoy seeing the results of a completed piece of work whether it’s a general upgrade or a full refurbishment project, there’s a real sense of achievement that Signum, as a team, have accomplished together.

Q5. What do you think is Signum’s secret to success?

Determination, teamwork and communication!

Every single staff member at Signum goes the extra mile to make sure our customers are happy, from the works being completed on site to the communication and customer service side within the office.

If customers are happy then they will be happy to work with us again, so this is very important to us.

Q6. What advice would you give to young people coming into the facilities management profession now?

The best advice I can give to someone is to listen and always communicate with customers accordingly, proactively trying to find solutions to their problems or make something work for them. Being a problem solver and being able to make things work is an invaluable asset within this industry. Take every opportunity to learn and grow within the business you join. The more well-rounded you are, the more opportunities you’ll create for yourself.

Q7. What do you like most about working in Doncaster?

Doncaster itself has lots going for it. I don’t actually live in Doncaster but often visit on a weekend to carry out all kinds of activities from shopping at The Frenchgate Centre to swimming and ice skating at The Dome. I also love visiting the wildlife park, I think that place is amazing.

Q8. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I’m an avid reader. I’ve often read an entire book on a Sunday! James Patterson is my favourite author.
