Why Partnering with a Facilities Management Company Makes More Sense Than Ever

In today’s unpredictable economic climate, businesses are under more pressure than ever to deliver value, reduce costs, and work smarter. At Signum FM, we understand these challenges firsthand, and it’s why we’re seeing more organisations turning to facilities management providers like us—not just to keep things running, but to drive real, measurable benefits.

Recent insights from the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) show that a growing number of companies are committing to net-zero goals, with 75% on track to hit targets by 2050. This is encouraging—and it shows that the work we do behind the scenes is making a difference. Facilities management plays a key role in helping businesses operate more efficiently and sustainably, but for our clients, that’s only part of the story.

What they value most is our deep understanding of their buildings and our close, collaborative approach. We don’t just show up when something breaks—we work as true partners. Because we manage everything directly and use a carefully chosen local supply chain to supplement our workforce, we respond faster, communicate clearly, and provide tailored support that makes a real difference. Our team knows the ins and outs of every site we manage, allowing us to plan smarter maintenance, pre-empt issues, and consistently deliver a high-quality, reliable service. It’s a level of care and expertise that some providers struggle to match.

Another key advantage our clients often mention is time. By entrusting their facilities to us, they free themselves up to focus on core business priorities. We take the hassle out of compliance, maintenance schedules, contractor management, and unexpected repairs—so they don’t have to. It’s about giving time back while ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

At Signum FM, we believe facilities management should be personal, proactive, and rooted in real partnership. That’s what allows us to deliver value—not just in pounds and pence, but in peace of mind.

Doncaster Duo Join Forces to Transform Keepmoat Office Space

We are proud to have worked alongside another leading Doncaster company to transform Keepmoat’s offices in the city.

Signum FM and commercial interior design company District Four Design were appointed by Keepmoat to oversee the extensive renovation project which has completely reconfigured the ground floor space for the 74 employees who work there.

Jill Wood, Managing Director at Signum FM, said: “This was a significant project and one we were thrilled to oversee in partnership with the team at District Four Design, who had created an excellent overall concept for the space, as well as detailed 3D visuals and CAD plans for the transformation.

“The renovation started by stripping out the existing fixtures and fittings across the space, followed by construction of a new IT build and storeroom to give the IT team at Keepmoat more space to work and store equipment.

“We then installed a new kitchen and coffee station, complete with integrated appliances. The coffee station is a new addition to the office space and purposely has a small break out space adjacent to it where employees can take their drink for a break or a more informal meeting with colleagues.

“A dedicated printer station and storage area was created to help keep consumables together for easy access, and all the lighting on the floor was upgraded to LED with added feature lighting.

“New flooring was put down throughout – carpet tiles to the main area with a breakout feature colour; anti-static flooring in the IT areas; and a modern luxury vinyl floor in the kitchen and coffee areas.

“We also installed new power and data supplies and reconfigured the floor power boxes to suit the new furniture layout.

“District Four’s colour scheme for the area was in keeping with the Keepmoat brand, and a pop of acoustic panelling to the meeting room and coffee station also helped modernise the area.

“All in all, the finished space is breathtaking. The feedback from the client has been brilliant and the employees now have a contemporary, inviting place to work and spend time with colleagues.”

Kyle Donnachie, Managing Director at District Four Design, added: “We thoroughly enjoyed working on this project in partnership with Signum FM, seeing our designs and the furniture and décor we’d handpicked for the space come to life.

“Working with Jill and the team was a breeze and we’re really happy with the end result.”

Carolynne Hason, PA to CEO at Keepmoat, said: “We already have a strong working relationship with the team at Signum FM, so handing over this project to them made perfect sense – and was a great decision, as it took a lot of the stress off our own team to oversee things.

“Jill and her team took care of any challenges, ensured everything from the furniture install to the electrics and the air conditioning systems were put in place correctly, and made sure everything went to plan at every stage.

“The result is a space that we’re blown away by. The staff are all over the moon and what had become a tired office environment is now a very modern, uplifting place to work. It’s fantastic to hear our employees’ positive feedback and see them making great use of the new break-out zones, too.”
