It’s time for our next staff spotlight Q&A! Introducing our electrician, John Booth who has worked at Signum Facilities Management for six years. Here he tells us all about his job at Signum as well as a little-known fact about himself!
Q1. What was your first job?
I worked part time at Dewhurst Butchers part time. Butchery wasn’t something I was going to develop a career in!
Q2. Tell us about your role at Signum FM and what it involves
I am an Electrical Qualified Supervisor. This means I am the electrically competent person with specific responsibility for the safety, technical standard and quality of electrical installation work completed by Signum.
Q3. What’s your favourite thing about working for Signum?
I love the team I work with. They are always really positive and helpful.
Q4. What do you enjoy most about working in facilities management?
I love the variety the job brings as you never quite know what is around the corner! One day you can be working in a school and the next in a multi-million pound factory. It keeps you on your toes but at the end of the day I just want to do the best possible job for all our customers.
Q5. What do you think is Signum’s secret to success?
Here at Signum we have really approachable management so if there is ever a problem or you need some advice you have someone to turn to. We have a really supportive team who work well together to deliver the best service we can. High quality customer service is at the heart of what we do.
Q6. What advice would you give to young people coming into the facilities management profession now?
It’s important to be open minded with any task you take on. You might think you know the answer to a problem but, after some investigation, it turns out to be something completely different! You’ve always got to be willing to learn, this approach will only help you in the future.
Q7. What do you like most about working in Doncaster?
I don’t actually live in Doncaster but often visit for shopping. I also enjoy visiting Relish for something to eat.
Q8. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I’ve met four prime ministers.
